KOCHI: The former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission P.K. Iyengar has called for indigenous development of technology. Such technology is more crucial than pure management or financial management techniques, he said while addressing the valedictory function of Swasraya Bharath 2005, a weeklong programme consisting of a technology exhibition and a lecture series, on Thursday. Great inventions were the result of keen observation of nature. Theories that became milestones in the growth of science were enunciated after sheer observation. Photovoltaic effect, electromagnetic radiation and other theories had evolved in this manner, he said. Babu Joseph, former Vice-Chancellor, Cochin University of Science and Technology, delivered a speech on the subject `100 years of Relativity' to mark the World year of Physics.
