A drug allegedly used in high-profile parties

NEW DELHI: At least 43 tablets of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) -- better known as "Ecstasy", a party drug allegedly used in high-profile rave parties -- have been seized by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi police for the first time. Two persons have been arrested and the police claim to have seized 10 gm of cocaine from them.

Acting on a tip-off, the Narcotics Branch team had laid a trap near Parampuneet Apartments in Sector-6 of Dwarka on Wednesday. The suspects appeared on the scene around 2-30 p.m. in a Santro car. The police intercepted the car and arrested the duo.

Those arrested have been identified as Rajkumar Gupta and Pradeep Singh. Apart from the contraband, the police also recovered seven mobile phones and a diary from Rajkumar.

According to the police, Rajkumar, son of an accountant, was a college dropout and was involved in flesh trade along with his brother Sanjay Gupta, a pimp, who was murdered in May 2003. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Prevention) Act has been registered and further investigations in the case are on.
