Reprehensible

The dastardly killing of Ghulam Nabi Lone, at a time when thousands of Kashmiris are desperately coping with the aftermath of the killer quake, is highly reprehensible. It needs to be condemned in the strongest possible terms. That the heinous act was perpetrated during Ramzan — a month of fasting and prayer in which Muslims are required to exercise utmost restraint in all aspects of behaviour — shows the terrorists are not true believers of Islam. It is time the majority of Muslims unanimously rejected the so-called jihadis as un-Islamic.

R. Shafarunnisa,
Hyderabad

The killing is highly condemnable. By attacking people already shattered by the devastating earthquake, the militants have once again proved how cowardly they are. The day is not far off when they will have to face the wrath of the common man in the Valley.

Abdul Monim,
Mumbai
