KHAMMAM: Collector Rajendra Narendra Nimje asked the bankers to meet the credit needs of the food hit farmers. Addressing the district level consultative committee here on Friday, he commended the efforts made by the bankers to realise the Khariff loan targets. The banks could disburse Rs. 332 crores as against the target Rs. 103.8 crores. The achievement was 103 per cent. The Collector made a review of the bank wise performance in respect of the credit plan commitments. He stressed the need for the rescheduling crop loans in the flood affected villages. The banks could advance loans to 23,689 new farmers as against a target of 16,000 farmers this season.
Cooperation sought
He sought the cooperation of the bankers for the implementation of the remote area development programme. He said the housing of the poor sections would be given priority. The bankers could perform exceptionally well so far as the crop loans were concerned in the first three quarters ending September last. As against an annual target of Rs. 400 crores, the banks disbursed Rs. 332 crores so far. Term loans to the tune of Rs. 51.53 crores were disbursed as against a target of Rs 96 crores. Under the PMRY, in all 538 candidates were sponsored against a target of 962 units. Only 22 units were grounded so far.
