Pinarayi Vijayan
Talking to presspersons after visiting the Central Jail here on Friday to meet CPI(M) workers remanded there, Mr. Vijayan said the discontent was widespread as many prisoners were being denied parole even after they had undergone imprisonment for more than three years. But it has nothing to do with the reported finding of the intelligence wing that the jails, especially the Central Jail in Kannur, are witnessing a potential riot-like situation, Mr. Vijayan said. ``The intelligence report has been drafted with a specific intention. It is a politically motivated report,'' Mr. Vijayan said. If such a situation really exists in the jails, then the Home Department is responsible for that and the Minister holding charge of the department has no right to continue in office, Mr. Vijayan said. Responding to a question on the reported intelligence report that the Kannur Central Jail has been under the `control' of CPI(M) inmates, Mr. Vijayan said that such assessments could be independently verified by mediapersons by visiting the jail.
