Mr. Deshpande, who was the Industries Minister in S.M. Krishna Ministry, said here on Friday that the information technology (IT) major has shown interest in the development of infrastructure in Bangalore. It is unfortunate that Infosys Technologies Chairman and Chief Mentor N.R. Narayana Murthy resigned as Chairman of the Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) following remarks made by the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda. Mr. Gowda has opposed allotment of 845 acres of government land to the IT major. The issue could have been resolved through talks. An unnecessary controversy has been created after Mr. Gowda's remarks, Mr. Deshpande said. "A communication gap between the leaders is the reason for resignation of Mr. Murthy," Mr. Deshpande said. The Minister was speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of general council meeting of the Indian National Trade Union Congress. The Minister reiterated that the findings of the World Bank following a sample survey in 12 States are without basis.
