23 of 65 seats in Gulbarga ZP in general category

23 seats have also been reserved for women candidates

GULBARGA: Of the 65 seats in the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat, 23 seats are in the general category. The panchayat will go to the polls in the second phase of polling on December 23. Official sources told The Hindu here on Thursday that 19 seats have been reserved for the Backward Class A category, followed by 17 seats for Scheduled Castes, three for Scheduled Tribes and two for the Backward Class B category. Of the 65 seats, 23 seats have been reserved for women in different categories.

Out of the 23 seats in the general category, 8 seats have been reserved for women. Similarly, of the 19 seats reserved for Backward Class A, seven seats have been set aside for women.
