Staff Correspondent
DEHRA DUN: The Uttaranchal Government has initiated strict action against people found hoarding or selling LPG cylinders or kerosene at a premium. Announcing this, Civil Supplies Minister Pritam Singh said that the Centre had also been urged to ensure a proper supply of cooking gas and kerosene to Uttaranchal as winter had already set in the higher districts and absence of these fuels would lead to grave hardships to the people and also force many to cut wood for fuel purposes - an act that would be detrimental to the fragile hill ecology. Officials have raided many LPG dealers and hotels and registered cases against 20 of them in the past fortnight. Similarly the police are checking cars that are using LPG as a fuel.
