PRIZE FOR POETRY: Kerala Minister for Public Works M.K. Muneer presenting the Asan Smaraka Kavitha Puraskaram to poet Kilimanoor Remakanthan in Chennai on Saturday.
CHENNAI: Asan Smaraka Kavitha Puraskaram-2005, the Asan prize for poetry, was awarded to Malayalam poet Kilimanoor Remakantan. M.K. Muneer, Minister for Public Works, Kerala, presented the award at a function held at Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School, Cochin House, on October 22. The award comprises a citation, memento and a cash prize of Rs.25,000. C.K. Revi, president, Asan Memorial Association, presented the citation. Mr. Remakanthan is based at Thiruvananthapuram. He has several collections of poetry and devotional songs to his credit. He has written `Gurupatham,' a poem based on the life history of Sri Narayana Guru. He has translated Dante's Divine Comedy into Malayalam. He recited one of his recent poems at the function.
