SHIMOGA: Writer Krishna Kolhar Kulkarni of Bijapur said here on Saturday that Gamaka's contribution in keeping the Kannada and culture alive is phenomenal. Mr. Kulkarni was inaugurating a two-day district level convention of Gamaka Parishat. Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council D.H. Shankarmurthy took exception to the boycott of religious rites at the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore by Barguru Ramachandrappa, who inaugurated the Dasara festival, and said that by doing so Mr. Ramachandrappa had set the bad precedent. "People who do not believe in traditions should not be invited as guests to such programmes," he said. Parishat district president S.V. Thimmaiah, and last year's convention president H.R. Keshavamurthy were present. Sri Mallikarjun Murugharajendra Swamiji of the Bekkinakalmutt blessed the function.
