Padayani workshop begins tomorrow

ALAPPUZHA: The Kerala State Youth Welfare Board and the Kerala Folklore Academy will jointly organise a workshop on Padayani at the Kavunkal

Kunjilikkavu temple grounds, Mannancherry, from October 25 to 29. Minister for Cultural Affairs A.P. Anilkumar will inaugurate the workshop at 5 p.m. on October 25. T M Thomas Isaac, MLA, will preside over the function.

Folklore Academy chairman Muhammed Ahammed will welcome the gathering. District panchayat president R. Nazar will deliver the keynote address.

Padayani experts Raghavan Nair, Gopala Pillai, Kadammanitta Raghu, M.K. Gopalkrishnan Vaidyan and A.K. Chakrapani will take classes on various aspects of Padayani.

Minister for Tourism K.C. Venugopal will inaugurate the valedictory meeting at 4 p.m. on October 28.

Alappuzha District Collector K.R. Muraleedharan will felicitate veteran Padayani artistes at the function.

The camp will conclude by noon on October 29.
