CHENNAI: Ecotel The Rain Tree conducted an inter-school painting competition for higher secondary students. M. Suber from MCTM Chidambaram Chettiar Matriculation HSS came first and won four buffet coupons.

The second and third prizes went to Mithali Priyadarshini from MCTM Chidambaram Chettiar Matriculation HSS and R. Harika from Boston Matriculation School respectively. The topic was "Don't Blow It, Good Planets are Hard to Find." Two participants each from eight schools participated.

The winning painting featured two earths — one with a skeleton and destruction and another that practises recycling. Suber wrote "Which is your future, choose."

The contest is the latest event by the hotel to create green awareness. Earlier, they handed out saplings at a petrol bunk on St. Mary's Road, Alwarpet.
