Passenger hurt as vehicle takes off before he could alight

Chennai: A passenger was injured when a Pondicherry Transport Corporation bus took off before he alighted.

Rajasekharan and two others got into the bus at Madhya Kailash on Saturday night. The conductor asked them to get down at Tiruvanmiyur, as the bus would not be stopping at their destination, Mahabalipuram.

According to the police, the bus started moving as Rajasekharan was still on the footboard trying to get down. He fell and sustained injuries. He was taken to the Chengelpetttu Government hospital for treatment.

Based on a complaint, Thiruvanmiyur police arrested the bus driver, who was released later.
