Man held for wife's murder
A call was received by the Khajuri Khas police on Saturday saying that a woman, Radha (34), wife of Vikas Bansal of Dayalpur Extension in Khajuri Khas, was found dead and that the house had been ransacked. Vikas told the police that he had gone to Meerut and on his return found his wife dead and some cash and jewellery missing. The police, however, suspected Vikas' involvement as he kept changing his version. They questioned him and he allegedly confessed to having killed his wife and ransacked the house to make it look like a case of robbery-cum-murder.
Two arrested
Investigations indicated a family member's involvement. Further investigations revealed that Mazhar's son-in-law, Nasir Khan, had confided to an acquaintance that he had given Rs. 1 lakh to his nephew, Rashid, to kill his father-in-law. The police arrested Nasir on Friday and Rashid on Saturday. Rs. 25,000 in cash, said to be a part of the amount given to him, the alleged weapon of offence, a .315-bore country-made-revolver, were recovered at his instance.
