HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has alleged a major conspiracy to split the party by the Congress, particularly Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Advisor to the Government on Political Affairs K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao.

The remarks of TRS MLA Kasipeta Lingaiah in New Delhi that he was contacted by Mr. Rao on the telephone expressing solidarity with him to engineer the split has found echo with the party leadership here.

TRS to unravel plot

Union Minister of State for Rural Development A. Narendra told a news conference on Monday that in spite of the Congress party's conspiracy, the TRS would continue in the UPA Government to unravel the plot to the last detail.

A formal complaint would soon be lodged with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary in-charge of the State Digvijay Singh.

He said a couple of party legislators were present with Mr. Lingaiah when he received the call as they had gathered at the house of rebel TRS leader S. Santosh Reddy on the day he was expelled.

Except Mr. Santosh Reddy, who had become a pawn in the Congress hands in its efforts to marginalise the TRS and the separate Telangana movement, none of the MLAs fell in the Congress trap. Mr. Lingaiah had not informed the party leadership about the phone call as he was busy with the cooperative elections.

Meanwhile, the TRS gave a call for burning of the effigies of Mr. Santosh Reddy by the party cadre in all the Telangana districts on Tuesday. The district party units were also asked to set up obstacles in his tours in the region, he added.

Santosh's warning

At a separate news conference, Mr. Santosh Reddy warned against linking him with the Congress or the Chief Minister. He continued to be part of the TRS.

There was no sanctity to the expulsion ordered on him. He challenged the party MPs and MLAs to resign and contest without Congress support. He would also resign and not contest again.

Mr. Santosh Reddy said he was not dependent on the support of TRS MLAs. He would wage a lone battle for Telangana.
