  • Chief Minister to inaugurate the conference
  • 438 papers to be presented during the sessions
  • Conference aims at sharing knowledge

HYDERABAD: A three-day International Conference on Environmental Management (ICEM 2005) will be organised by the Centre for Environment of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) at Hotel Fortune Katriya from October 28.

The conference, to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will delve into the different aspects of environmental resources and their sustainability, environmental impact assessments, pollution control technologies, environmental geo-informatics and modelling and environmental education and awareness.

A report based on each these themes will be submitted to the Government after the conference.

    Unique conference

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, JNTU Vice-Chancellor K. Rajagopal said the conference, first of its kind in the country, would have 438 papers on various themes presented by Indian and foreign representatives of Government and private organisations, pollution control boards, NGOs, universities and colleges, research organisations and others.

Delegates from over 20 countries including United States, Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Canada, Syria, Japan, Finland, Uganda, Taiwan, Pakistan, Germany and South Africa among others would be the participants.

With lack of awareness on environmental management plaguing environment conservation and preservation activities across the world, the conference would aim at bringing experts on a single platform to share the knowledge and to provide solutions and suggestions, Dr. Rajagopal said.
