This Day That Age
The Dasara festival in Mysore concluded on October 26 with the usual procession from the Palace. Thousands of men, women and children lined up the entire route to have a glimpse of the grand procession and to have darshan of the Rajpramukh. At Bannimantap the Rajpramukh performed pooja of the banni tree and returned to the Palace in a procession. Dr. B.V. Keskar, Union Minister for Information, Mr. K. Kamaraj Nadar, Chief Minister of Madras, Mr. C. Subramaniam, Finance Minister, and Mr. M.A. Manickavelu, Revenue Minister, Madras, attended the Rajasabha. The Rajpramukh gave away presents to a number of persons, who had done meritorious service to the State. Whatever the future set-up of Mysore State might be, the Dasara festival had a definite place as a national festival, said Mr. C. Subramaniam, speaking at a social function.
