"Centre callously represented facts before court"
|
NEW DELHI:
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday accused the Centre of "callously representing" facts on allotment of government accommodation to politicians and individuals in the capital, following which the Supreme Court made strong observations against the "illegal" occupation.
Talking to reporters here, Siddharth Nath Singh, BJP media cell convener, said none of his party leaders was occupying government bungalows illegally.
Distributing photocopies of a letter received by M. Venkaiah Naidu from the Urban Development Ministry allowing him to retain the bungalow at 30, Aurangazeb Road, Mr. Singh said this house still in the BJP quota was allotted in his capacity as party president. However, after he stepped down, Mr. Naidu wrote to the Ministry expressing his desire to surrender the house. In its reply (dated April 28, 2005), the Directorate of Estates allowed him to continue there until alternative accommodation was arranged.
