Malati R. Rao passes away

Bangalore:
Malati Ramakrishna Rao, former chairperson of the Karnataka Nataka Academy and widow of S.M. Ramakrishna Rao, a leading businessman, passed away here on Monday. She was in her early 80s and is survived by a son and three daughters.
Hailing from a distinguished family, Ms. Rao was the daughter of C.S. Balasundaram Iyer, who was a member of the Dewan's council in princely Mysore. Her maternal grandfather was G. Subramania Aiyer, one of the founders of The Hindu and a well-known public figure. Her husband was the grandson of Sajjan Rao, a leading businessman of Bangalore.
