Hubli-Dharwad
Hubli: Minister for Rural Development Basavaraj Horatti has suggested that Karnataka should supply onion to neighbouring States to enable farmers to get a better price. He told presspersons here on Tuesday that the proposed import of onion from Pakistan or China to overcome the shortage will not help farmers. Farmers in Karnataka had been getting a better price for onion after a long time and the price level should be maintained, he said. Importing the commodity from other countries will affect the farmers, who have lost other crops because of heavy rain this year. Mr. Horatti said he will urge Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh to urge the Union Government not to import onion. UNI
