ALUVA: Ajayan scored a hat-trick as CMS College, Kottayam, thrashed Bharatha Matha, Thrikakkara, 5-1 in the 14th Dr. A.K. Baby South India inter-collegiate hockey tournament which began at the Union Christian College Ground, Aluva, on Tuesday. In contrast, host UC College pipped Maharaja's, Ernakulam, 2-1 with Nisam scoring both the goals in the second half. Both CMS and UC entered the quarterfinals. The results: UC, Aluva 2 (Nisam 40th, 59th) bt Maharaja's, Ernakulam 1 (Alhad 48th); CMS, Kottayam 5 (Ajayan 5th, 8th, 15th; Vinhu 19th, Renjithmon 51st) bt Bharatha Matha, Thrikakkara 1 (Kiran 31st). - Principal Correspondent
