HYDERABAD : DMRL moved into the final of the inaugural Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Challenge Cup prize money football tournament defeating AP Police 3-1 in the semifinal at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Tuesday. It was the Police team that shot into the lead in the 13th minute through Veeraraju' solo effort. But within six minutes, DMRL equalised through a fine solo effort from Alamdhar. In the second session, winger Nagaraju and Pasha struck once each to complete the tally for the winners. DMRL will miss Qayyum in the final as he was shown a red card for entering into an argument during the match. Wednesday is a rest day and the Dr.Y.S.R Cup under-16 tournament will commence at the same venue.
Sagay Raj moves up
Sagay Raj defeated Nitin Jr 56-25, 40-34, 28-51, 18-53, 59-47 in the preliminary round of snooker of the third-leg of AP State billiards and snooker tournament here on Tuesday. APSRTC triumphs
APSRTC scored a 35-21 win against BHEL in the Hyderabad district annual basketball league championship. Jagan (10) and S.V. Rao (15) were the main scorers for the winners while Shaker (8) and Srikanth (10) put up a good show for the losers. In another match, YMCA Secunderabad recorded a narrow 52-50 win over CCOB. Santosh (15), Danikal (10) were the key players for the winners while Karim (15), Ramesh (12) played well for the losers.
Artillery in semifinal
Artillery Centre moved into the semifinal of the MCH annual open hockey tournament defeating Andhra Pradesh Police 2-1 at Gymkhana Grounds on Tuesday. Artillery led 2-0 through wingers Jaswinder Singh and Osman Bin Abdullah before the break. In the second session, AP Police reduced the margin through forward Suribabu. In another match, South Central Railway scored a comfortable 5-1 win against State Bank of India. For the winners forward Prabhakar (2), Ajay Bharathi, Aleem and Mohd Aslam were the scorers. For the losers, Harinath Reddy scored.
Jamai PG wins
Jamai Osmania Playground defeated Kendriya Vidyalaya (Begumpet) 25-16, 25-15 in the Hyderabad district under-15 boys volleyball tournament at Hyderabad YMCA here. For the winners, Laxman and Sriraju played well while Raman and Prashant put up a good show for the losers.
