Isha has it easy against Phadke

MUMBAI: Isha Lakhani lashed winners at will against Sonal Phadke and displayed confidence in abundance in the MSLTA-ITF $ 10,000 women's tennis. Seeded fifth at 532 and eager to surge up the rankings ladder, the left-hander won 6-3, 6-1 at the Ranade Tennis Centre on Tuesday. Sonal's exertions and spurts of inspired play did little to stem the tide against Isha. Fourth seed Shruti Dhawan was stretched to the decider by Kirghiztan's Ksenia Palkina in another first round tie.

Sai ousted

The first round singles matches turned out as expected with the exception of experienced Sai Jayalakshmy-Jairam's loss against unseeded Krushmi Chheda. The eighth seed lost six games in a row in the decider after having recovered from service problems initially. Krushmi, broken thrice in first two sets, hung in to pull off a fine victory.
