KDO posts win

HUBLI: KDO School and Chinmaya School notched up wins in the inter-high school cricket tournament organised by the South Western Railway Women's Organisation (SWRWO), Hubli Division here on Tuesday. Electing to bat, Shantiniketan School posted 74 for eight in 15 overs, but KDO reached the target in the 11th over losing only four wickets.

In the other match, put in to bat, Chinamaya School was all out for 94 in 14.5 overs, and bowled out St. John's for 45 runs in 10 overs.

Meanwhile, Lamington HS and Jeeveshwar HS entered the final of the kho-kho tournament organised by SWRWO.

Lamington defeated Kendriya Vidyalaya HS-2 and Jeeveshwar beat Girls English Medium School.

Vikas, Poovamma individual champions

At Puttur, Vikas M. Puthran of Canara College, Mangalore, and M.R. Poovamma of Canara High School, Mangalore, emerged individual champions in the men's and women's sections respectively at the fifth Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu district athletics championships, which concluded here on Tuesday. Teams from Alva's Education Institutions, Moodbidri, walked away with both the team championships.

The results: Overall team championships: Men and Women: Alva's College, Moodbidri; Age-category championships: Under-14: Boys: Little Flower High School, Kinnigoli, Girls: Swami Vivekananda PU College, Yedapadavu; Under-16: Boys: Swami Vivekananda PU College; Girls: Navodaya High School, Bettampady; Under-18: Boys: St. Philomena College, Puttur; Girls: Alva's College, Moodbidri; Under-20: Boys: Alva's College; Girls: S.D.M. College, Ujire; Individual championships: Men: Vikas M. Puthran, Canara College, Mangalore; Women: M.R. Poovamma, Canara High School, Mangalore.
