BANGALORE: Heavy rains messed up the schedule in the Association Cup basketball tournament with only four of 10 matches being completed at the Sree Kanteerava stadium basketball courts. In the matches played, Orions, BEML (Mysore) and ASC went through to the quarterfinals while Sports Hostel (Bangalore) made it to the prequarterfinals in the morning session. The evening session was washed out. The results: pre-quarterfinals: Orions 71 (Suhas 26, Venu Madan 13, Sashidharan 13) bt BEL 34 (Rajshekar 14, Vinod Kumar 10); BEML (Mysore) 57 (Jayanth 15, Ramakanth 14, P.J. Srinivas 12) bt Beagles 53 (Anirudh 15, Abhishek 12, Bharat 13); ASC 70 (Pankaj 19, Harish 16, Nixon 13) bt Kanaka (Kolar) 30 (Guruprasad 20). Second round: Sports Hostel (Bangalore) 51 (Srinivas Naik 10, Rangana Gowda 11) bt Southern Blues 44 (Shailendra 15).
