Pranab to make a sales pitch in Chile

NEW DELHI:
Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee left for Chile on Tuesday night to make a sales pitch. His visit takes place at a time when Chile is modernising its armed forces. The indigenously-designed `Dhruv,' being marketed for India by an Israeli company, is a frontrunner in the helicopter segment.
Official sources said Chile might purchase 12 of these advanced light helicopters for Rs. 200 crores, making it the biggest export order for the Indian defence sector. It also showed interest in other armament items and defence-related stores.
In military-to-military relations, both countries are interested in each other's training programmes.
