New industrial areas approved for desert State

    JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government intends to develop new industrial areas to speed up industrial growth and attract big investors to the State. The Industries Department has approved the proposals for establishing new industrial areas at the land measuring 4,546 acres.

    The Industries Minister, Narpat Singh Rajvi, asked the officials of the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) at a review meeting here on Monday to identify land across the State with the potential for developing industrial areas from the outset.

    The proposed new industrial areas include those at Kant-Kalwad and Chaupanki near Bhiwadi, Sitapura extension and Kukas extension on the outskirts of Jaipur, Balotra extension near Barmer, Jalore phase-4, Udaipur, Boranada near Jodhpur and Nimrana extension area in Alwar district.

    Mr. Rajvi pointed out that several companies from other parts of the country and also from abroad had sought allotment of land for their proposed units in the State. The State Government has accepted some of the requests and is looking for suitable land plots for them. The Minister called upon the RIICO to make the term loans offered by it to the projects more competitive so as to attract the investors in large numbers. He also underlined the need to sanction loans for encouraging the information technology and biotechnology sectors.

    The meeting was told that the RIICO had realised loans worth Rs. 118.56 crores against the target of Rs. 110 crores during the current financial year. The amount of money realised included the principal amount of Rs. 91.49 crores and interest of Rs. 27.07 crores.

    RIICO has developed land measuring 39,519 acres to provide infrastructure facilities to the industrial units and allotted 41,918 land plots to the industries till September 31 this year. In the existing industrial areas, 19,538 units have started production and 3,866 are under construction. Mr. Rajvi later addressed a separate meeting of the Industries Department in Udyog Bhawan here and laid emphasis on improving the quality of work.
