HYDERABAD: P. Veerasiva Reddy, Telugu Desam MLA who hit headlines recently for his outbursts against his party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, met Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy at the Secretariat on Tuesday but denied making efforts to join the Congress or showing leaning to it. Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Reddy made it clear that he would remain in the Telugu Desam and that he had met the Chief Minister only to highlight the Rayalaseema problems with a plea to continue GO No. 170 which provided for increase in discharge capacity of Pothireddypadu head-regulator. He did not receive any show-cause notice from his party but if he received, he would give a fitting reply. He said his party talked of show-cause notice only when he spoke, referring to S. V. Subba Reddy who bitterly criticised Mr. Naidu that the latter would never change his attitude, and to Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, who had addressed an open letter to the leadership. On the criticism against him by C. Ramachandraiah, he said the latter had never been elected directly by people except on one occasion. Mr. Ramachandraiah, he said, did not visit Velpur area even 10 days after the incidents involving S. V. Satish Kumar Reddy. "What will happen to the cadre ?" he asked.
Remarks justified
Mr. Veerasiva Reddy justified his remarks against the Telugu Desam leadership saying that he had only criticised the stand taken by Mr. Naidu on issues relating to Rayalaseema. "Or else, the Telugu Desam will suffer in the region." Mr. Reddy stated that he would consider an agitation for a separate Rayalaseema if the region was denied even the flood waters of the Krishna.
