NEW DELHI: With almost two-dozen dengue cases being reported on a daily basis in the past one week and the toll reaching eight, the dreaded disease seems to be spreading fast in the Capital as well as in neighbouring States. On Tuesday, 23 dengue patients were admitted to various city hospitals -- 21 from Delhi and two from Uttar Pradesh -- taking the total number of cases to 486. Of these, at least 67 patients are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals. So far, 353 cases have been reported from Delhi alone, while 133 cases are from other States including Uttar Pradesh (52 cases) and Haryana (36 cases). Of the eight deaths reported so far, four each are from Delhi and other States. In Delhi, Municipal Corporation of Delhi areas are worst affected with 336 cases, followed by the New Delhi Municipal Council (15 cases). At least three MCD zones have reported more than 60 cases -- West (68), Central and Najafgarh (61 each). Other badly affected zones include Rohini (32), Civil Lines and South (23 each), Shahdara North (19), and Shahdara South and Karol Bagh (17 each).
