TIRUPATI : The tussle between the inhabitants of Chinthalachenu-- a predominantly working class colony, and a private construction company over the ownership of a land where a burial ground is reportedly existing, has erupted once again.
Tension prevails
Tension prevailed on Monday when the residents of the colony pulled down a wall built by the construction company to take a body into the `burial ground' for cremation even as the cops tried to prevent the surging crowd. The irate crowd dispersed only after burying the body.
Demonstrations held
Meanwhile the CPI and the CPI(M) held a demonstrations in front of the municipal office on Tuesday demanding a permanent solution to the raging controversy. They took serious objection to the threat held out by the revenue authorities to book cases against all those involved in the incident for violating Section 145, which was already clamped on the controversial site by the Revenue Department pending disposal. The Left party leaders said that the revenue and the municipal authorities instead of finding a solution to the `burning' problem were favouring private parties.
