JALANDHAR: The Punjab Government is raking up the issue of terrorism to divert the attention of people from its ``failures'' and ``misgovernance,'' opposition leader and SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday alleged. ``The history of the role of Congress party during terrorism is a common fact and since ruling party proved a failure on all fronts, it wants to discuss these kind of issues to divert the attention of people from developmental issues,'' Mr. Badal said referring to the recent discussion in the State Assembly on the issue of terrorism. Asked whether he was satisfied over the discussion on the issue, he said though he was satisfied, the ruling party was ``misleading the people by re-telecasting the distorted portion of the discussion.'' When asked as to why the portrait of Jarnail Singh Bhindarwale was placed in the SGPC when he had described him as a ``Congress-supported man'' in the Assembly, Mr. Badal said he does not want to speak on the issue. ``If the Chief Minister wants to blame Akalis for supporting terrorism, he must understand whom he is blaming as he was also part of SAD during the period of militancy,'' he said. ``Even though we are on the hit list of terrorists, we do not want terrorism be made the top issue of Punjab as it may disturb the hard-earned peace of the State,'' he said suggesting that the media should also avoid sensationalisation of such sensitive issues.
