Charge against CPI(M), DIC(K) leaders

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: M.M. Hassan, KPCC media cell convener, on Tuesday alleged that the Karunakaran-Pinarayi Vijayan axis was trying to foment trouble in the police force and jails in the State.

Mr. Hassan demanded a detailed probe into the frequent visits by the CPI(M) State secretary to the Central Jail in Kannur.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Hassan said the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) had urged the State Government and the Chief Minister to be alert against such designs.

He said that it was during K. Muraleedharan's tenure as KPCC president that the police force was politicised.

His participation in a police association meeting had prompted the State Government to issue orders banning participation of politicians in such functions.

Mr. Hassan said the three accused policemen in the custodial death were connected to the CPI(M) and the DIC(K).

Mr. Hassan alleged that Mr. Vijayan was encouraging police personnel in the State to commit atrocities.

Replying to a question, Mr. Hassan said his party suspected a conspiracy behind the Panmana and Neyyattinkara attacks.
