Hope for the physically challenged
Looking for a wheelchair that helps you take up daily activities with ease? The Health Oriented Project Establishments (HOPE), a charitable trust based in Kannur, will distribute 500 wheelchairs to people with disabilities in the city. The programme will be inaugurated by Governor R.L. Bhatia at the Kanakakkunnu Palace on Thursday. The free distribution is part of a project that aims at providing assistive devices for people with special needs. The project is organised jointly by HOPE, Sathyam Service Trust and Kerala Patients Welfare Association. K.S. Jayamohan, general secretary, HOPE, says around 2,000 wheelchairs are distributed annually by the trust in the State.
