VROOM WITH AN ACE: Brand ambassadors of Tata Indicom - Narain Karthikeyan and Sania Mirza -- at a function in Hyderabad on Tuesday. - Photo: Mohd. Yousuf
HYDERABAD : It was a photographers' delight, truly. One known for zipping past the best of the racing drivers with consummate ease and the other known for her lethal cross-court strokes often grounding the big names on the tennis court. Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan and tennis sensation Sania Mirza shared the platform to promote Tata Indicom in the City. And, to the delight of the thousands of fans in the twin cities, they were involved in a road show later to promote the brand which only recently introduced the non-stop mobile service, facilitating free incoming calls without recharging, and also celebrating a land mark - crossing the 7.5 lakh subscriber figure in Andhra Pradesh alone.
Business assignment
Not surprisingly, the two sporting celebrities were confined to merely promoting the brand and not speaking even a single word about anything else. Reason? It is a purely business assignment. No wonder, the sport scribes who attended the briefing in anticipation of some quotable quotes were disappointed.
Delighted
But, for the top brass of the telecom group, it was a coming together they clearly enjoyed. "I have great pleasure in promoting a firm which stood by me for the last eight years," remarked Karthikeyan. "Non-stop mobile is just the right formula for them. I am delighted to see the enthusiastic response and support to the innovative idea," he added. And, Sania was not far behind to assert that it was a great honour for her to be associated with a firm which should help her communicate with people with far more comfort. Greatest thrill was in store for Krishna Kumar, a 7,50,000 subscriber, who was presented with a non-stop mobile handset by the dignitaries. Mr. Prabhat Pani, COO, Andhra Pradesh, welcomed.
