HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police on Tuesday recovered stolen property worth Rs. 15 lakhs with the arrest of three ex-convicts. One of the arrested, K. Saikrishna, 26, started committing thefts five years ago to meet medical expenditure of his ailing mother, Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy told a press conference here on Tuesday.
12 burglaries committed
The Hyderabad police arrested him twice earlier and secured his conviction both the times. A native of Nizamabad district, Saikrishna came out of jail in April 2005 and allegedly committed 12 burglaries in and around city since then.
Modus operandi
He would select locked houses, sneak inside by breaking the main door lock or removing the window grills and take away the property. Based on his confession, gold ornaments and silver articles weighing 52 tolas and two kilograms respectively were recovered.
Property offences
The other two, Mohd. Rajaq Baig, 34, of New Nagole in LB Nagar and Varaprasad, 21, of Golnaka, had been allegedly committing various property offences in Cyberabad limits for the past four years. Some 25 non-bailable warrants were pending against him. The Amberpet police earlier arrested the duo and recovered stolen vehicles worth Rs. 5 lakh. After coming out from jail on bail six months ago, they started lifting cars and organised a counterfeit currency racket, Mr. Mahender Reddy said. A computer with scanner and printer used for making fake currency notes and three four-wheelers were seized from their possession. The two persons managed to circulate nearly Rs. 35,000 fake currency by purchasing goods at various shops in the past few months.
