Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh State Minorities Finance Corporation has a dismal recovery record with its outstanding dues amounting to a staggering Rs. 100 crores. Over the years, people availed of loans given by the corporation but never bothered to repay. This was disclosed by Minister for Minorities Welfare Mohd. Fareeduddin while giving away loans to minority women at a function here on Tuesday. He asked the beneficiaries to make proper use of the loans and repay it so that more needy persons could be helped. Earlier, the Minister gave away loans worth Rs. 48.46 lakhs to 1,016 beneficiaries. Loans were sanctioned for the micro-credit groups, DOMWUA groups, and widows. Secunderabad MP, Anjan Kumar Yadav, described the loan as the festival gift for the beneficiaries. He advised them to put the money to good use and repay it promptly. He recalled how Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had redeemed his election promise by providing 5 per cent reservations to minorities. Asifnagar MLA, Moazzam Khan, also spoke.
