SANS PILOT: A file picture of an unmanned aircraft
After a review of the law and order situation by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday, Home Minister K. Jana Reddy told reporters that a decision had been taken to acquire one such aircraft. "The process is on," he said, admitting that officials had visited Russia and Israel where these aircraft were available. Meanwhile, the State Government is getting a helicopter exclusively for law and order problems. The Centre had agreed to allot one chopper to Andhra Pradesh for a few months following a plea by the State Government. Mr. Jana Reddy said there was no breakthrough yet in the case relating to the bomb blast at the Task Force office in Hyderabad recently. The police were still ascertaining the nationality of the suspected "human bomb" whose body was recovered from the site. Just because the suspect wore shoes made in Bangladesh, one could not conclude that he belonged to that country. One possibility was that the suspect might have undergone training in that country, he said.
ISI activities
He said the Government was ever alert about the activities of the ISI and terrorists. By being doubly cautious and taking precautionary measures, it had averted two to three incidents. On cases of missing persons, he said Task Forces were constituted at local and district levels.
