HARD AT WORK: Restoration work in progress on a water pipeline that burst on Tuesday morning at Ambalamukku in the city. Photo: S. Mahinsha
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Water supply to many areas in the city, including Kowdiar, Kuravankonam, Paruthippara, Ambalamukku, Ulloor, Pattom, Kesavadasapuram, Nalanchira and Medical College, was disrupted on Tuesday following a leak in a 400-mm pipeline of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) at Ambalamukku. The leak was noticed at around 6.45 on Tuesday morning as the KWA workers were getting ready to close the 12-metre trench dug at the Ambalamukku junction on Friday to repair a leaking 900-mm line ferrying water from the Peroorkada reservoir to the Manvila tank. A 10-metre section of the pre-stressed concrete pipe was replaced with a section of mild steel pipe. Water supply on this line was restored late on Sunday night.
