BANGALORE: Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh has prohibited procurement, possession, sale and use of crackers, which are considered to be dangerous, from October 26 to November 5. The Commissioner told reporters here on Tuesday that high explosives such as atom bomb of one inch diametre and Lakshmi Pataki of four inch length, sputniks of all varieties and explosives containing potassium chlorate and potassium perchlorate such as "bellulli pataki" and "nela gundu" and the like, come under the prohibited category.

Bursting of crackers after 10 p.m. and before 6 a.m. on each day during the period has been banned under the Karnataka Police Act. Violation of the order will attract prosecution, he said.
