HYDERABAD: Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam has invited entrepreneurs from the State in the Information and Communication Technology sector to invest in his country. Mauritius can serve as the gateway to African countries, particularly those falling under the South African Development Council, for Indian entrepreneurs, he said. The investors can leverage this advantage to get access to over 500 million customers in the SADC region, he said. Talking to presspersons, Mr. Ramgoolam, who was here on a two-day visit to the City, said his Government was mainly focussing on the IT and service sectors for promoting investments and it would take the help of India in this regard. Although there were some companies operating from Mauritius, the country was not having sufficient human resources. "We want companies to come over to Mauritius and provide human resources training there," he said. Mr. Ramgoolam said that his Government had already initiated a dialogue with the previous Government in the State for the development of information technology in Mauritius and the current visit to the city was in continuation of those efforts. "We will certainly seek the help of India in promoting IT and service industries in Mauritius," he said. Mr. Ramgoolam expressed happiness over the interest shown by the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, whom he met earlier, on the issue of the mutual cooperation between the two countries in IT and tourism sectors. During the interaction, the Chief Minister wanted the Mauritius Government to open a recruitment centre in the city for creating job opportunities for trained youth in Mauritius. The opening of the centre would also help the aspirants avoid the risk of landing in Mauritius and seeking jobs on their own. Dr. Reddy explained to the visiting dignitary, the rapid strides being made in the IT and communication sectors in the State and said the Government would consider sending an official team to Mauritius for further collaboration. Mr. Ramgoolam, who also called on the Governor, Sushil Kumar Shinde, this morning, interacted with the captains of the IT and communication industries based in the city.
