HYDERABAD: Reportedly angered for not getting better medical treatment to his pregnant wife, a person abducted his brother's 18-month-old son and allegedly throttled him to death at Dundigal on Tuesday.

The murder came to light on Wednesday when the Dundigal police picked up accused person Venkateswara Rao, 28, working as a private security guard, from Bachupally.

Rao and his brother Srinivas, 25, hailing from Repalle of Guntur, came to the city in search of jobs and are living at Devendernagar.

On Tuesday evening, he came to the house of Srinivas who was away while his wife Nagalaxmi was playing with her son Teja.

Rao took the boy out saying he would buy some chocolates for him. She grew suspicious as the brother-in-law did not return home till late in the night.

Srinivas complained to the local police who booked a kidnap case and began a hunt for the accused person.

    Confesses to crime

They rounded him up in the early hours of Wednesday at Bachupally.

During interrogation, Rao confessed to the murder. Based on his confession, sleuths recovered the boy's body from bushes behind the Telugu University building in Bachupally.

Rao's earnings as watchman were not adequate to make the both ends meet and hence, he used to depend on Srinivas, who was working as an assistant with an auditor, for additional expenses.

]Vexed with his behaviour, Rao's first wife deserted him.

Worried over his brother's family life, Srinivas performed his second marriage a year ago.

"Despite helping him, Rao bore grudge against his brother accusing him of not admitting his pregnant wife in a better hospital for delivery and killed the boy," Dundigal Inspector Rambhupal Rao said.
