dated October 28, 1955: Madras Varsity centenary

The Senate of the Madras University, which met on October 27, adopted a resolution authorising the Syndicate to take steps for the celebration of the centenary of the university in the last week of January or early in February 1957. Dr. A. Lakshmanaswami Mudaliar, Vice-Chancellor, presided. The Senate rejected a resolution seeking to postpone the introduction of the Pre-University Course by one year and decided to go ahead with the present schedule of starting the course from the academic year 1956-57.
