PONDICHERRY: It is an eye opener for those who think the rush for call centre jobs was restricted to big cities. An interview for call centre jobs by HCL BPO, the second one in two months here drew graduates not only from the town but also from Villupuram, Cuddalore, Karaikal and adjacent areas on Wednesday. The response was so great that the interviews went on till late in the evening and was extended to Thursday. Around 250 graduates from arts, commerce, science and engineering streams attended the interview. Twenty-nine of them cleared the second and third rounds and will travel to Chennai for the final round. The lucky ones will take home more than Rs. 10,000 as salary. HCL officials who conducted the interview said the response was more than what they expected. "Though they have done reasonably well there area few areas that they have to work on. Developing fluency in English and clarity of thought has to be paig attention to," a member of the interview team told The Hindu . P S Consultancy, the agency that organised the interview, said there were more aspirants this time for the jobs.
