Two-year extension for Duggal

NEW DELHI:
Union Home Secretary V.K. Duggal has been given extension till March 31, 2007 by the Government, it was officially stated here on Thursday. He was to superannuate on October 31.
An officer of the 1968 batch of the IAS, Mr. Duggal took over as Home Secretary on March 31 last. His extension was approved in keeping with a recent Cabinet decision that armed the Government with the discretionary power to give a fixed term of at least two years to top officials heading the internal security apparatus.
The officials are the Director, the Intelligence Bureau, Chief of Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) and the Union Home Secretary.
