Heavy rain likely in north coastal Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Yesterday's depression over southwest Bay moved westnorthwest-wards and intensified further into a deep depression and lies centred at 08-30 hours IST of 27th October 2005 at about 250 km east of Chennai. It is likely to intensify further and move in a westnorthwesterly direction and cross north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra coast between Chennai and Ongole by tomorrow 28th morning.

Under its influence Northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall occurred at most places over north interior Karnataka at many places over Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and at a few places over coastal Karnataka, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

FORECAST (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, at many places over rest Tamil Nadu, north coastal Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka and Telangana and at a few places over Kerala, Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Scattered heavy to isolated very heavy rain is likely to occur over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, south coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, rest Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka during the same period.
