List of Central Government holidays released

HYDERABAD: The Central Government has released the list of closed holidays for its administrative offices and establishments in the twin cities for 2006.

Accordingly, a closed holiday will be observed in all the Central Government offices on Id-Ul-Zuha (Bakri Id) on January 11, Republic Day (January 26), Muharram (February 9), Holi (March 15), Ugadi (March 30), Mahavir Jayanti and Milad-Un-Nabi (April 11), Good Friday (April 14), Buddha Purnima (May 13), Independence Day (August 15), Janmashtami (August 16), Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra (October 2), Diwali (October 21), Id-Ul-Fitr (October 25), Gurunanak Jayanti (November 5) and Christmas (December 25).

In addition, each employee will be allowed to avail holidays on any two occasions chosen from the restricted holidays, according to an official press note. A list of 30 restricted holidays for 2006 has also been released.
