Light rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Yesterday's deep depression over southwest bay moved northwestwards and lies centred at 08.30 Hrs IST about 50 km southeast of Ongole.

It is likely to cross south Andhra coast between Ongole and Bapatla by Saturday afternoon.Northeast monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal and south interior Karnataka.Isolated rainfall occurred over Telangana and north interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep.Tondi recorded the highest maximum temperature of 34 degree Celsius in the region and Arogyavaram recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 15 degree Celsius in the plains of the region.

FORECAST (valid until Sunday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and interior Karnataka and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next 48 hours.

Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over south interior Karnataka during the same period.

SQUALLY WEATHER WARNING: Squally winds with speed reaching 60-65 kmph likely to continue along and off south coastal Andhra Pradesh and during next 12 hours.

Farmers Weather Bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (valid until Sunday morning): Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
