VIJAYAWADA: The district administration is gearing up to curb illegal trafficking of girls and women. Perturbed by the increase in number of missing girls and women in recent months, director of the Women and Child Welfare Department, Hyderabad, asked the district administration to develop a regional-level network on anti-trafficking to prevent their sexual exploitation. The Krishna district Women and Child Welfare Department has called for a meeting on Saturday at the district headquarters, Machilipatnam, to chalk out an action plan to this effect.
Officials to attend
District Collector Navin Mittal, Superintendent of Police, Krishna, East and West Godavari districts, DRDA (Indira Kranthi Padhakam) project director, project officer for child protection UNICEF, selected members of trafficking committees and local NGOs would attend the meeting.
