THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The winds of change sweeping the broadcast media the world over appear to be headed for Kerala too. Come November 1, the day that marks the golden jubilee of Kerala's formation, the State would get its own FM channel under the All India Radio umbrella. Titled `Ananthapuri FM', the new channel promises lot more original content in Malayalam than has been possible so far. `Ananthapuri FM' is actually a new brand name for the three-decades-old Vividh Bharati's commercial broadcasting wing, but it intended to facilitate absorption of the latest in broadcast technology and addition to the present content mix which is mostly in the Hindi language, says Sathish Chandran, assistant director in charge of AIR's Commercial Broadcasting Service (CBS). The FM channel would would have its focus on generation of programmes targeted at youth, Mr. Sathish Chandran said.
