NEW DELHI: Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL) on Saturday announced that it would increase the production of `Swift', its latest model, by 30 per cent to bring down the waiting time for customers. The company has decided to step up the monthly production of Swift from 5,000 units to 6,500 units from November, a company statement here said. Maruti, the statement said, had so far sold over 27,000 units of Swift since its launch five months ago. Following good customer response, the company had to go in for expansion of capacity both within the factory premises and at the suppliers' end. The expansion process had now been completed, the statement said. A Maruti spokesperson said that although there was still a backlog of pending bookings, this expansion of capacity would enhance the availability of Swift and reduce the waiting time for the car.
